Summer, Year 759 of the New Age
Tree stump Den, Blackwood

Birds twittered high in the canopy, some stray sunlight streaming down from the heavens graced the barren ground of Blackwood. Rosalie walked around the perimeter of her home, pausing every now and then to sniff the ground for a good spot to dig. Her son Danzig played with Aspen, while Gilraen napped in a spot of sunshine. Rosie smiled as she walked, that happy content feeling a mother has creeping up through her till her face was lit up.

“Hmm, where to start this?” She cocked her head as she gazed around the land, tail twitching. “Someplace with lots of sun for the plants to enjoy.” She walked to the spot she originally wanted, a large patch where the sun shone most of the day. Sniffing again, she pondered if some of her plants would do well. She wanted to keep some of the more useful plants close to home, plants for tummy aches, headaches, cuts and scrapes. So far she only had three plants, two for tummy and one for cuts.

Settling on this one spot, she began clearing away the needles that clogged the ground. Sweeping her tail, she slowly worked until a large patch of bare dirt lay beneath the sun.

A small tug pulled on Rosie’s heart, something commanded her to stop and look away. Looking up and away, her gaze settled on a tree. She was staring toward home, Glenmore. The tree blocked the way, though it didn’t in another way. It was a way home, a connection to the earth magic. A small twinkling light blinked in her vision. A slight breeze brushed against her, warm and loving, to which she closed her eyes and relished in. Even with eyes closed, the light twinkled, and seemed to grow brighter in the dark of her mind.

She felt a mothers touch she had always longed for, one she always gave her children. That warmth and love rocked through her. A large sigh escaped her as the feeling ebbed away, though a shard remained deep in her heart. Happy, content, uplifted, she smiled to her son, who wagged his tail at her. Tiny yellow flowers had sprouted at her feet, their mossy like leaves and stems spreading out to the edges of the needles, some even over coming them.

What’s wrong mama?” Danzig asked, Aspen chittering on his back.

Smiling down at him, she gave him a lick and nuzzle. “Nothing is wrong sweetie, everything is right. Everything will be well.” Giving another lick, she turned back to her work, feeling well rested and began digging for her plants.

Response to The Spirit and the Letter

Wanted to write something up for Rosie, and do a response to that EPICNESS going down in Glenmore. Felt like something like this could happen.

So yeah, Rosie being all happy and stuff!
