The Light of the dark

The tired little filly dallied along after the dark one and the bright one. The soft things at her own feet gave way to harsh, clangy sounding things. But the red filly didn’t care, the dark one was safety, and as long as she stayed close, nothing would hurt her.  The dark one was everything, she gave nourishment and things that made the red filly happy to be around her, like touches on her head and neck.

Before long, they came to a strange place. It smelled of the dark one, so the little filly felt safe. The brightness was starting to go away as she lay down and rested, as the bright one did. Cuddling close, she felt at peace, if just a little cold. Shivering, she wondered why the dark one wouldn’t come by her, she gave off warmth to her!

Bleating, she watched as the dark one walked around the strange home where the big open didn’t come through except at one spot. Little specks poked through the dark over there, and the little red filly gave another, more startling bleat. Dark, dark was good when it was the dark one, but this dark? It was, a bit scary.

Shaking, she pushed against the light one, giving more scared calls. A snuffling thing came near, and giving a small scream the red filly leaped up on her still shaky legs toward where she heard the dark one. Deep calls came from the dark one, vibrating through the filly as she huddled at her legs as the snuffling thing came by, and then went away.

Still shaking, she looked up in the darkness to the dark one, giving a soft bleat. More rumbles, these ones soft and soothing, washed over the little filly. The dark one moved, and she moved with her. Then, a wondrous thing happened, a speck of light popped out of the ground! Gasping, the red filly jumped a bit behind the dark ones legs, before poking her head out to see the bright grow and light up the strange place. Looking around, it was almost like earlier, but different. The snuffling thing was near the big open, and wasn’t as scary now.

The dark one moved again, but the red filly stayed where she was, now transfixed with the bright glowing warmth. It was warm, far warmer than the dark one and the light one combined. Stepping closer and closer, she looked deep into the flames. Standing there, she forgot how her new body was tired, and before long, she crumpled down staring at the flickering tongues as her eyes drifted shut, the crackle and rumbles soothing her fears of the big dark.

Finally, got to do a little story about Kahina! This was so fun to draw and write the little story about her first night and all the excitement! Tried a different fire technique, not sure if I'll stick with it. Enjoy I hope to get some more cute art of Kahina and little stories of when she was a baby! Can't believe she's already a year old, time just flies by way to fast!
